This short tutorial shows how to use the WordPress plugin ImageInject to find and insert Creative Commons images in a post in as little as two clicks. The free plugin searches Pixabay and Flickr to find images based on your keywords. To fine tune exactly the kinds of licenses you want, and how you want to do attribution, use Settings/ImageInject. I don’t cover all the possible settings in the videos because I am trying to keep these videos really short. Hello. Barbara Feldman of WordHer.com here to show you how to use the WordPress plugin ImageInject to insert public domain photos and images into your posts with just as little as two clicks.
I have already installed the plugin. It is in the plugin directory at WordPress.org. You can find it by searching either under ImageInject or WP Inject. They recently had a name change. WP Inject is the old name. But you can find it under either of them.
So, when you go to your Edit Post control panel, and you scroll down below the editor, you will come to the meta box that says ImageInject.
All of these meta boxes are moveable. See this little movable cursor here?
And because I use ImageInject so frequently, I like putting it right below my editor, like that.
So, here I am. I’m editing my post called Dogs are Funny. And I am going to enter a keyword to search for images at Flickr and Pixabay.
Look at how fast this is. OK.
At Pixabay, these images are all public domain. And at Flickr, they can have a variety of licenses. But you can set ImageInject to say exactly the kind of Creative Commons license that you are looking for.
So, I am going to insert this adorable little puppy as my featured image. And I don’t see him featured image yet, but if I do, I reload. . .
There’s my cute little puppy as my featured image. And if I update my site. . .
And, of course, featured images can be used in different themes in different places. But in this theme, they are used with the excerpt.
So, here we see my; I just can’t. . . Look at those eyes! They’re just too, too cute.
So, here we have the featured image with the excerpt. And if we go back to the post, and we want to insert the image into our post, we can put the cursor where we want it and go to Add Media.
And it’s been added to our media library.
We can give the adorable puppy a caption. We can choose our links and our sizes and our alignment. And insert it into post. And update.
And view post. And here is our puppy. Here is a featured image on the excerpt.
